This is a guaranteed original carbine, NOT a cut-down rifle, and has correct original “C” marked rear sight and saddle ring/bar. Metal finish is original blue showing just a little wear. Breech block has strong original case colors. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. The front sight blade is a replacement. Stock is an arsenal replacement and is solely marked “52” under the buttstock behind the trigger guard. Wood has original finish and shows a few normal handling marks. Carbine is complete with original ruptured case extractor that stores in the butt trap. A nice example of a US Model 1879 Trapdoor Springfield Carbine that will make a fine addition to a collection.
