This is essentially the predecessor to the S&W model 10. It's easily the best shooting smith I've ever owned, and I've own a lot of smiths, both new and old. It locks up tight, shoots beautifully, and has been treated gently. The only issue it has is some moderate holster wear. The finish, stocks, etc. are all original. I am sad to part with it, but I must cull the collection.

As for markings: It is an army supply program contract revolver, as it has the Army's P proof marking on the side plate. It is a pre-VS model, serial number V 662292, which I believe makes this of 1943-44 production.

It's a .38 special only (no +p), though it's still completely viable for carry if you're into that sort of thing. it comes with its original holster and some buffalo bore standard pressure .38 special personal defense rounds.
